Position Overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated instructional aide/afterschool & summer camp teacher who is passionate about developing and enhancing the educational experience of early elementary and elementary aged children. The ideal candidate is able to take direction, anticipate needs, develop and lead their own curriculum. While maintaining and developing a warm, safe and exciting learning environment.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Early Childhood Education Units or willingness to take classes
  • 2+ years experience with children 4-13 years old

Requirements

  • Excellent collaboration skills and passion for children and education
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and Google Classroom
  • FBI & DOJ background clearance
  • Mandated Reporter training, Bloodborne Pathogen Exposure Training, Sexual Harassment and Abuse Training, Integrated Pest Management
  • CPR/First Aid certification
  • Health clearance (Vaccinations: Tdap, MMR and Influenza (optional), and clear TB test)


Qualifications:

  • Experience working with elementary age children is required.
  • Early Childhood Education/Child Development units are strongly preferred.
  • Enthusiasm for games, outdoor play, and education.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective multitasker and self-starter
  • Desire for growth and passion for education

Essential Duties:

Instructional Aide

  • Provide individual and small group instruction, with guidance from the teacher. 
  • Actively assists students and teacher
  • Assist with the organization and maintenance of an orderly and organized classroom environment, which facilitates the everyday activities and the management of the classroom
  • Demonstrate effective behavioral management strategies under the direction of the classroom teacher
  • Provide a safe environment when working with students in order to facilitate their learning
  • Assist in the preparation of instructional materials such as bulletin boards, games, science materials, etc.
  • Assist with enrichment and/or remedial work activities
  • Willing to learn how to check and input student data online
  • Supervise lunch and recess
  • Support educational programs in the school site
  • Be willing learn and use school technology
  • Other duties assigned by the Administrator

Aftercare

  • Develop and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum with co-teacher(indoor and outdoor)
  • Collaborate with other staff members and teachers
  • Providing a safe, caring, and enriching environment for all students
  • Maintain line of sight supervision of students and ensure student safety
  • Implement effective behavior management systems
  • Effectively promote and utilize conflict resolution
  • Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress and behavior
  • Daily pick-up of aftercare students at an offsite location
  • Maintain attendance records and follow all related procedures
  • Maintaining organization and cleanliness of after-school spaces and material
  • Request supplies and materials within the budget

Summer Camp

  • Develop and implement comprehensive weekly summer camp themes and curriculum for JK-5th grade students
  • Plan and lead daily activities including arts and crafts, games, field trips, and academic enrichment
  • Supervise and mentor camp counselors and volunteers
  • Providing a safe, caring, and enriching environment for all students
  • Ensure all camp activities meet safety standards and protocols
  • Maintain attendance records and follow all related procedures
  • Manage camp supplies and materials within allocated budget
  • Address behavioral issues and communicate with parents as needed

Physical Demands

  • Standing and walking throughout the classroom for most of the day.
  • Kneeling or squatting, stooping, bending, and sitting on the floor or low chair on an occasional to frequent basis
  • Must be able to lift at least 20 lbs.
  • On occasion it may be necessary to move quickly, run, etc. over smooth to uneven surfaces
