On September 9, I was honored to receive the Outstanding Legislator of the Year Award from the CA County Boards of Education in Monterey. I’m committed to prioritizing education policy at all levels-early childhood, K-12, and higher education. I am proud that my children received a world class public education in our community, and I am working to make sure all Californians have the same opportunities.

Reopening schools and ensuring their safety after the COVID-19 Pandemic has been a critical goal, and we have worked with state and local partners to ensure that our students have safe and healthy access to our educational systems.

We have outstanding board members in Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties and incredible Superintendents Nancy Magee of San Mateo and Mary Ann Deway of Santa Clara County. County boards of education provide instructional, business and technology services to the individual school districts in each county. COEs oversee special education programs, alternative schools, Head Start and State Preschool programs, and community and court schools.
