Qualifications

Ability to work year-round performing manual labor in all weather conditions
Required: Valid driver’s license
Preferred: Prior tree care, landscaping, forestry, or horticulture experience
Preferred: Bilingual
Preferred: Degree in Arboriculture, Forestry, Horticulture, Plant Science, Landscape Management, Environmental Science or a related field
Job Summary
As an Arborist Ground Operations Specialist, you’ll join Brush Hog’s tree care crew, gaining practical field experience. This entry-level role offers hands-on training in tree and shrub care for commercial and residential properties. You’ll assist foremen, climbers, and fellers to manage the work site and interact with the public, all while reporting to the Crew Leaders, Supervisors and General Foreman and playing a vital role in the team.
Gaining on-the-job training to safely perform all aspects of arboriculture, including:
Pruning trees
Rigging
Cabling and bracing
Removal of hazardous trees
Properly maintaining and operating equipment (hand tools, chainsaws, leaf blowers, chippers, tractor, aerial lifts, etc.)
Implementing work zone safety procedures
Assisting Arborist Climbers and Arborist Crew Leaders working on the ground and aloft
Assisting with driving, backing, dumping, and parking duties
Traffic and pedestrian control, and other relevant duties as operationally necessary
Drive trucks with trailers; including daily safety inspection before operating
Assist aerial workers and other ground crew members in all aspects of tree care and removal
Keep the job site safe & organized, drag & chip brush, rake & clean up the job site
Able to work with and without direct supervision
Physical Demands Of This Role
While performing the duties of the job, the employee is subject to frequently lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds.These physical demands described must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
