After 60 years, the Department of Rehabilitation is changing its name! We invite our trusted community partners and stakeholders to take part in the process.
Why now? As the largest provider of vocational rehabilitation and independent living services in the nation, California’s Department of Rehabilitation (DOR) is a leader in advancing the lives of individuals with disabilities. As this work continues to evolve and modernize, we need a new name to better represent the communities we serve and the services we offer.
The new name will be designed to resonate with the diverse spectrum of disability, culture, perspectives, and lived experiences within the disability community, as well as with employers across different sectors and educators within the K-12 and higher education institutions.
Your Participation: DOR is hosting two informational webinars to solicit feedback on our new name. The first session will take place on Monday, April 8 from noon to 1 p.m. and the second session will take place on Thursday, April 11 from noon to 1 p.m. The content covered for each webinar will be the same, so please plan to attend only one session.
