Profiles of Coastside Creatives Susan Friedman and Na Omi Shintani by local filmmaker Ray Day.

Making Art of Life – Susan Friedman
Produced in 2021, Making Art of Life showcases the creative accomplishments of beloved Coastsider, Susan Friedman— filled with broad interests and prolific works in many artistic media, including Photography, Documentary Filmmaking and recently, Acrylic Painting.

Legacy – The Art of Na Omi Shintani
Na Omi Judy Shintani’s extensive creative abilities encompass a broad range of artistic disciplines with one common focus: people’s inhumanity toward each other. From the Japanese internment camps in the early 1940s to the continuous hostilities toward refugees from around the world, Na Omi shines a light on these local as well as global atrocities. The premiere of this Making Art of Life marks the unofficial start of May’s Asian / Pacific American Heritage Month.

Ray Day
Ray produced and directed his first “Artist Bio” in 2018: Truth Be Told: Irving Norman and the Human Predicament. He continued, in 2020, to produce Artist Bios for local and Bay Area Artists. Along with these productions, he has started his 41st year, as a Documentary Film Audio Recordist.
