Communications Exercise
SUNDAY Morning

9/22/2024 – 10:00 am to Noon

The Exercise is open to Coastside residents from the Lantos Tunnel south to Tunitas Creek as well as to invited guests.  Everyone participates from their neighborhoods! This is the only Coastside-wide earthquake drill and radio exercise. Allied agencies welcome! 

Note: There will be two events!

First Event: Earthquake Preparedness Webinar – Thurs, September 19th at 7:00-8:00 pm.

In advance of the Sunday exercise, we will all watch a webinar on Earthquake Preparedness hosted by David Cosgrave, Coastside CERT Program Manager and Emergency Supervisor for San Mateo County Department of Emergency Management (SMC DEM).   This webinar is open to all residents of San Mateo County and will give all attendees real-world knowledge about what to do before and after a significant earthquake with an emphasis on how such an event will impact and be managed by residents of the Coastside.  To register for the webinar and receive the Zoom info, please use this QR code:

Second Event:  Coastside Great ShakeOut Communications Exercise –

Sunday, September 22nd starting at 10:00 am and ending around 11:30 or noon.  

Each active CERT neighborhood on the Coastside will have an opportunity to practice vital skills that will be needed in the event of a major earthquake or other disaster.  Look forward to great ways to connect and learn as a community.   Many neighborhoods will have family-friendly aspects to their exercise activities.   Look for more information directly from your Neighborhood Leads.
