Job Announcement – Volunteer Coordinator

Are you passionate about helping older Coastside adults live their best lives?  Are you looking to work part time (mostly in the mornings) with a great team doing meaningful and engaging work?  If so, Senior Coastsiders has the position you are seeking.  We are hiring a part-time volunteer coordinator. 

Position Overview

The Volunteer Coordination role is responsible for recruiting, training, coordinating, and managing volunteers to support the organization’s programs and initiatives. This position plays a key role in ensuring that volunteers are effectively integrated into the organization, their contributions are maximized, and they have a positive and rewarding experience. This is a 25 hour/week non-exempt position worked mostly between 8.00 am and 1 pm with occasional evening and weekend hours depending on events and programs. The salary range is $25 – $30 per hour depending on experience.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Recruitment and outreach – actively recruit, screen, and onboard volunteers.
  • Training and development – plan and oversee regular volunteer training and orientation.
  • Coordination and management – coordinate volunteers for daily activities and special events.
  • Recognition and retention – organize and manage volunteer events including volunteer recognition and appreciation.
  • Administrative duties – regularly track and report volunteer activity, maintain an updated volunteer database.
  • Other duties – assist with meal deliveries, provide support for front office, and participate in special events as required.

Qualifications and Skills

The preferred candidate should be:

  • A dynamic self-starter who can work under minimal supervision to coordinate volunteers.
  • Pleasant and like working with older adults.
  • An effective communicator with volunteers, participants, partners and staff.
  • Able to lead others and work as part of a team.
  • A solution-oriented problem solver comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to reliably commute to the Coast.
  • Proficient in Google Suite (email, calendar, Drive, forms, sheets, and docs).
  • Proficient in Canva, social media, and Constant Contact (preferred).
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
  • Bilingual Spanish or Mandarin (an advantage, not a requirement).
  • Able to work occasional evening and weekend hours.
  • Able to move equipment, tables, chairs etc., up to 30 lbs.
  • Have directly relevant experience, preferably with older adults
