Dear Sonrisas community:

I am happy to introduce you to Sonrisas’ new Community Resources Director, Spandan Chakrabarti. In this role, Spandan will be leading our fundraising efforts as Sonrisas explores ways to grow the number of our neighbors we are able to provide a dental home – something every resident of San Mateo County deserves!   

Passionate about health equity for underserved communities, Spandan comes to Sonrisas with nearly 15 years of development and communications experience in Bay Area nonprofits. Sonrisas’ approach of treating everyone with dignity, regardless of physical, developmental, financial challenges speaks uniquely to Spandan’s background as an immigrant whose own family faced cultural, linguistic, and financial barriers.

Previously, he has worked in organizations serving diverse populations and causes ranging from homelessness and foster care to stem cell advocacy, chronic disease management, and health education.

I am excited to welcome Spandan, and I look forward to collaborating with him to expand philanthropic support for the critical work our frontline staff are doing in the community to achieve our vision of a dental home for every San Mateo County resident.
