Half Moon Bay is moving forward with a multi-million dollar roadway project to bring various bike and pedestrian safety features on Highway 1 north of Main Street, including a long-awaited and long-disputed plan for a stoplight at Terrace Avenue and Highway 1. 

The project boundaries cover Highway 1 from Spindrift Way to the north side of Main Street. The planned road work includes building a signalized intersection with crosswalks at Terrace Avenue and Highway 1, and new turn lanes on the highway. Bikers and pedestrians can expect to see a new multi-use path on the east side of Highway 1 from north Main Street to Spindrift Way and improved ADA-compliant access to the bus stops on Spindrift Way.
