Job Description

$25 per hour, 20 hours per week
MISSION STATEMENT:
Our mission is to transform the lives of Coastsiders experiencing homelessness
through meaningful employment, skills training, community-building, food justice,
health and sobriety resources, housing referrals and other supports, enacted
through three program branches: Full Circle Food Justice, Coastside Clean
Team, and services at the Workforce Development Center.
The Workforce Development Center (WDC) Coordinator oversees the WDC, which is
our main meeting space, offices, and place for showers, laundry, mail, case
management meetings and more. We work with people experiencing homelessness who
are often struggling with substance abuse, mental health and more. This means that
keeping a clean, hospitable, peaceful and caring environment where everyone is
recognized and valued is essential for all of our other programming to be successful. The
Center is an anchor for our homeless neighbors; it is a place where people can be safe,
focused and productive about their lives.
It is essential to be able to manage a heavily used space where up to 30 people
regularly access for a wide variety of services. This is the hub of activity for all of our
programs and resources. Every work program meets at the WDC before and after each
work shift. Donors drop off food and clothing, and the homeless community comes daily
for food, work, clothing, companionship, to meet with staff, and to get a variety of needs
met. Approximately 30% of our participants are Spanish speaking, so being bi-lingual is
absolutely required.
Our core WDC staff (both Program Managers and the Executive Director) seek a
competent person for this position who can manage the constant activity while keeping
the spirit of hospitality and fairness that AGCW imbibes, freeing up this core staff to work
within their specific roles.
