President of the Board of Supervisors Warren Slocum announced that the recruitment for one (1) vacant position on the San Mateo Resource Conservation District (RCD) is now open for applications. RCDs across California serve as local hubs for environmental conservation, connecting people with the technical, financial, and educational assistance they need to conserve and manage natural resources. RCDs provide non-regulatory assistance to accomplish voluntary conservation. RCDs are established under California law to be locally governed with independent boards of directors that are accountable to their communities.

To be eligible to serve on this Board, a candidate must (a) be a resident landowner within the district, (b) have served for two years or more as an associate director appointed by the board of directors, or (c) be a designated agent of a resident landowner within the district.
The district generally includes all of San Mateo County west of Skyline Boulevard (State Highway 35) except areas of urban development. Directors must be registered to vote in California and available for meetings that are held on the first Thursday of the month at 4:00 p.m. at the RCD office in Half Moon Bay.

The Board of Supervisors will appoint an applicant whom it determines able to contribute to the RCD’s nonregulatory environmental conservation mission. Candidates reflecting the diversity of San Mateo County are encouraged to apply. Deadline for receipt
of applications is Friday, May 10, 2024 at 5 p.m. The online application can be submitted directly at the County website: https://www.smcgov.org/bnc/application-boardscommissions-and-committees or by Sherry Golestan, Deputy Clerk of the Board at [email protected].
